Living Water Mental Health BRAIN Treatment Center Announces New Location in Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach, SC—Living Water Mental Health BRAIN Treatment Center, a South Carolina-based 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing FDA-cleared, breakthrough, rapid-acting mental health treatments, is excited to announce the opening of a new facility at 1086 London Street, STE B, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. The official opening date will be announced soon.
The new location will offer FDA-cleared, non-invasive, drug-free therapies including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) that is clinically proven to be highly effective in the treatment of depression, anxiety, OCD and bipolar depression and PRISM Neuromodulation, a medication-free, non-invasive treatment designed to alleviate symptoms of chronic PTSD.
"I’m grateful for the opportunity to offer these breakthrough mental health treatments to the Myrtle Beach community that I hold so near and dear to my heart,” said Ben Greenzweig, Founder & Executive Director of Living Water Mental Health BRAIN Treatment Center and Horry County resident. "Our mission is to bring hope and healing to those in need, and this new location allows us to reach more individuals seeking compassionate and effective mental health treatments."
"Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a source of Palmetto State pride as it was first researched and developed at MUSC Charleston in the 1980s,” Greenzweig said. “With all technology, rapid improvement comes over time, and this has enabled this type of treatment to become increasingly more effective, including driving remission, which is our ultimate goal.”
Up to 79% of patients with treatment resistant depression, or major depressive disorder, experience full remission of their symptoms after a course of accelerated TMS treatment. The outcomes data is also encouraging for other mood disorders including anxiety, OCD and PTSD.
Living Water’s Medical Advisor, Owen Scott Muir, MD, DFAACAP, a pioneer in the field of neuromodulation, is a dual board certified child and general psychiatrist and distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, has personally overseen thousands of TMS treatments to date. Dr. Muir operates a TMS-focused mental health clinic in New York City and serves as Medical Advisor for another TMS-focused clinic in Silicon Valley, CA. He is the author of hundreds of academic publications, and the popular press book, Inessential Pharmacology. His friendship with Greenzweig helped lead to the creation of Living Water that would bring this highly effective, breakthrough treatments to the more rural communities of Horry County and surrounding areas.
“I was incredibly touched by Ben’s determination to help alleviate the suffering of his neighbors in Horry County and wanted to find any way possible to help,” said Owen Scott Muir, MD. “It worked for me,” Muir said, who underwent TMS treatment himself for Bipolar Disorder. “TMS is a game-changer for a variety of mental health disorders, and the fact that it can be done rapidly, without drugs and without long-term side effects makes this a highly effective and desirable option for many. At Living Water, with all the clinics I work at or for, our goal is remission.”
Deeply engaged with the diverse communities of Horry County and neighboring areas, the center aims to foster meaningful conversations about mental health, eradicate stigma, and encourage the pursuit of effective treatments without shame.
